Editing the commercial

Today during class, all of the computers are shot. They work, but the editing app we need to use to actually edit, is not working right now. I am the editor for this project, and since the app is not working, I can not do my part. Bu the teacher will not fail us just because the computers here are not working. We are not allowed to edit at home, so she is not going to take points off of our projects if they are not done by the time it is due. There are about 28 computers in this classroom, and the teacher said that every other computer works. Which does not mkae much sense because we cant get owrk done before the end of class. Which will then effect our grades, and it will be catostrophic. But today, everyone is dumping their last pieces of footage onto the computers if they havent had the chance to. Everyone is also, doing their last pieces of filming, and doing their blogs.
I am actually very excited to edit the commercial because I love to edit. When I was younger, I use to record myself on my iphone 6s and edit my videos on iMovie.Ever since the first time I ever did that, I fell in love with it. I have a basic plan when it comes to editing this commercial. We plan on doing some voice overs, and a lot of cut scenes. But I will talk more about what we did when the time comes. Being the editor, it does get boring at first because you have to watch everyone else work. But, once the scenes are all done being filmed, you work for a long time. Since this is my first time doing a big project like this one, the pressure is on. It all comes down to how I edit to bring everything together.
I am kind of nervous to edit I am not going to lie, but I am also very excited as well. I have been editing for years on my phone. It is just that things are much more complicated now that we are doing it on computers. I was kind of looking foward to editing today, but things change. I am not 100 percent sure on why the app is not working, because the actual computers are working but the app is not. I am kind of happy that the app is not working because although I was very excited to edit, I am kind of happy we are not editing. I have a headache, and plus I am feeling kind of tired today, but thats besides the point. Once the computers turn back on, I will be ready to edit and put everything together. I am nervous that I might mess something up, but I know some part of my 11 year old self is still in me to guide me in the right direction to edit like a rockstar.

Filming

During our filming experience, I was the shooter at first because our shooter was not here during the first half of class. The scene that I filmed, was the scene where the actor walks through the camera as if she was walking from one side to another. It was because she is pretending to be tired and worn out because she came back from an intense workout. I had to get on my knees and record her from below to give the appearance of a low angle. We had to record the scene over and over again because the angle was not that good. So we re-recorded it about 7-8 times. But the 8th time things went well. We finally got it right, and now we can use the scene in the commercial.
When the person who was going to shoot the commercial came back from buying dunkin' donuts for the commercial, we started shooting. She shot, the rest of the scenes for the commercial. After the scene of Stephanie walking from one side to another, we shot the scene of her walking from the opposite side of the hallway to the next. This scene was for the part of Stephanie coming back from getting her coffee. Before she becomes super energetic and happy from it. The establishing shot is a must have for our commercial. Why? Because it tells the audience where we are recording our scenes and things like that.
Lastly, during our filming experince, we got help from a fellow student. Our tri-pod did not come with this little screw on piece to attach the camera to it. So I had to go all the way up stairs to obtain it. After we got it, we still did not know how to use it that well. So some of the clips will be a little lopsided. But after getting that piece we immeditalty started filming. Our camera only had about 48 minutes of battery life left and we did not want to lose our progress. We used up 46 percent of the battery life and quickly ran up stairs to dump everything. I did not have much to do since I am the one who is editing most of it. But I ran a lot of errands for the group. But since we had left over donuts, we all had a donut, and it was pretty good.

Storyboard Blog

Today my partners and I are creating our storyboard which is a comic representation of the entire commercial including the aspects of camera movements, camera angles, dialogue, and more. Our first six-second of the commercial consist of the actor walking to a destination at a low angle. The second six seconds consist of a wide shot and an establishing shot of the actor in pajamas sleeping on a bench in front of the school. The third six seconds is of the actor in more presentable ware such as a denim skirt, striped shirt, as well as presentable hair. Also in this third six seconds actor will talk to friends joyful while eating a donut and drinking ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts. At the 24 second mark, there will be a split-screen of the two different scenarios presented previously. The last six seconds will consist of an insert of prices of different Dunkin Donuts options.

Editing

Today in class, we learned how to edit on the school computers. To start off, you need to use, the app called pinnacle to actually edit your videos you record. Once you have your videos on the app, you need to dump your footage. Once you have your footage dumped onto the computer, you have to import your footage to the website ( in this case, pinnacle). You have to edit your raw footage on the app. There are exactly 3 AV tracks you can use to edit. AV track 1 is used to add a title. AV track 2, is used to edit your videos, and AV track 3 is used to add audio or edit the audio. There are three things to indicate what you've already done. Pink= Reversed, Green= you edited the clip, and Caution= you sped up the tape or slowed it down.
When adding a title to your video, you need to make sure that you place it over the video on top. You need to go to the title section, and start typing what you want. Whatever the color the background is, maybe don't make your title (or text) the same color. You can add tons of different fonts. You can even download fonts offline and import the fonts to the computer and add them to the title. You can also choose many different transitions for the actual text. You can have it roll into the video, or fade...it's really whatever you decide. You can also change the text size. A helpful tip I've always known is to never make the font size too small, and too bright of a color. Or else your audience will not be able to read or understand it.
When you edit your videos, you can do a lot of things. You can add transitions. Adding transitions is very easy on this app. All you have to do is highlight what you want to add a transition to, right click and add what you like. Transitions such as, fade, swipe, etc. Transitions are a mandatory effect you have to have to get full credit. When it comes to adding audio it's a little different. You still have to highlight what you scene you want to change up. You can right click on your scene, and cut your audios, or you can completely remove it from existence. You can even add your own sounds if that's what you want. You can do voice-overs, or add music from different websites ( if that is called for)>

Research Conventions and Conduct

Our group having chosen Dunkin Donuts to be our commercial, we have seen most of their commercials on TV or on YouTube. Usually their commercials are revolved around the daily life of individuals at home, at work, or in the store. One example, is a commercial in 2019 that had a black man starring on his lunch break eating two bacon, egg and cheese croissant at the same time. Inferring to the audience of how good the sandwich is based on the fact that he is eating two of them. Another example that Dunkin Donuts uses to show how beneficially they are in people's daily life is that the commercial shows a tired, messy haired mother waking up to her kids running and screaming but smiles while she takes a a sip of her Dunkin Donuts Coffee. At the end of every Dunkin Donuts commercial they try to promote their new deal for breakfast and coffee such as the 2 for $5.00 for any breakfast sandwich and the $2.00 medium latte from 2-6 p.m.
The actors in the commercial are usually of different races, culture, classes, and sizes to show that Dunkin Donuts run on the people or families. The locations of most of the scenes are either at the store, at work in an office, or at home with a family. Most of their commercial has soft music playing in the background to get that sense that Dunkin Donuts is a comfortable, safe place. The narrator in the commercials are usually a soft spoken woman with a clear voice. The commercials end with the their logo and catch phrase so that people watching the commercial can remember the catchy catch phrase for breakfast and lunch.

Introductory

Hi, my name is Asia and I'm in 9th grade. I'm the type of person who likes to do work when in the mood. I love to paint on my free time and sing sometimes. Some songs i like to sing are songs by Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, etc. I like to rap to rap music, but not "sing" it. I feel like singing puts me at ease in some ways...its kind of like a happy place for me when I sing. As far as painting goes, I really don't remember how i got into it, but I think it was because of Bob Ross (RIP). But his painting videos really inspired me to do more with my life rather than watch TV all day.

Some of the things I do not like to do is, dance because i feel like I'm a terrible dancer over all. It kind of makes my self esteem levels go low. I also do not like to sit around the house all day. Crazy right? I know. Its only because now that I'm into a lot of activities, being out my house is something I'm use to. I always ask my parents to leave the house because we never really do anything. I love to go to the movies with my friends and family, and I love to go to the beach. Just being surrounded by the people I love is fun to me.

Some of the classes I take in school are Mediastudies, Geometry, Biology, Culinary, and Journalism. There are  more, but it's a lot. I think my favorite classes have to be, the ones I mentioned minus geometry. It's not the teacher or the students in that class,it's the simple fact that I'm terrible at math. Out of all my years of school, last year was the toughest year for me regarding taking a math class. I'm supposed to be taking Algebra 2 right now, but I did not do so well last year when taking geometry. So to help me in school, and stop me from bringing down my GPA before going to high school, I got taken out. But I'm doing much better this year, and I'm very proud of myself for doing all I can to do my best this year. But that's me.
